A green Friday, and a hard fought one. Eight picks, six of them either won outright or were rescued by the handicap, two went down, and the column closed at net plus 0.36u on eight units staked. It was a night where the quarter and three quarter lines did the heavy lifting: three of the winners lost their actual matches by a single goal and still paid, which is exactly what those cushions are there for.

The two clean favourites carried the top of the card. KoPa were the pick of the day, a 4-2 win over STPS in the Finnish regional programme on the minus 0.5 line at 1.70 for plus 0.70u, never in doubt once they pulled clear. Cooks Hill United backed it up down in the Australian Northern NSW grade, a 3-1 win over Valentine that settled the plus 0.5 Double Chance at 1.44 for plus 0.44u.

The two League of Ireland games were the story of the night, because both of our teams lost and both still returned. Sligo Rovers led at the Showgrounds through captain Will Fitzgerald, but a red card just after the hour and a pair of Shamrock Rovers substitutes flipped it, Graham Burke striking eight minutes from time to win it 2-1 for the visitors. The plus 1.5 line rode out the single goal defeat for plus 0.51u. Over at Tolka Park, Dundalk went in front through JR Wilson before a three minute Daniel Kelly and Harry Wood double turned the game and Shelbourne won 2-1; the plus 1.25 split half won, the plus 1.0 leg pushing and the plus 1.5 leg landing, for plus 0.13u.

Two more half winners rounded out the green. NSÍ Runavík drew 0-0 with KÍ Klaksík in the Faroese top flight, the plus 0.25 splitting to a half win at 1.925 for plus 0.33u as the draw no bet leg pushed and the Double Chance leg paid. And Zhenys, beaten 1-0 away at Astana in Kazakhstan, half won the plus 1.25 for plus 0.25u on the same single goal margin that saved Sligo and Dundalk.

The red ink came from two Australian state games and both were full unit losses. Gold Coast Knights U23 lost 2-1, the plus 0.5 Double Chance broken by the single goal for minus 1.00u. Northcote City lost 3-2, a tight one that still left the draw no bet gone for minus 1.00u. Frustrating on the margins, but neither cushion was ever going to reach a one goal loss on those lines.

Net plus 0.36u on the day. Six of the eight paid, five of the winners came from the favourites and the handicap saves, and only the two Australian state defeats went down clean. A grind of a Friday, but a green one.
