4 picks. Two won, two lost, and the day closed 1.03 units down. This was the most confident card I have put out in a while and it is worth being honest about how it went.
Banga was the one I liked most and it was beaten 3-0. I wrote that it was the strongest position on the slip, that every possible route onto it was priced, and that the exchange bridge cleared our own number by nearly ten per cent. All of that was true and none of it mattered. Sūduva won comfortably and the bet was never alive.
There is a distinction here worth drawing carefully, because it goes to the heart of what this service does. Getting the best of five available prices is a real, repeatable advantage and it is most of what I spend my time on. It is not the same thing as knowing which bets win. On Banga the route analysis was correct — the exchange bridge genuinely was the best number on the market — and the selection still lost. Those two things sit alongside each other and always will.
Víkingur drew 2-2 and I had already told you the price was short. I made that line 1.581 and the best available was 1.520, so we were taking it around four per cent under our own number for the liquidity rather than the value. It lost, and a –1.00 handicap gets no protection from a draw. That one was flagged honestly going in and it behaved as a below-fair price tends to.
The two that paid were the two I said least about. ÍA Akranes gave a goal and beat Thór 2-0, and Corinthians were never in trouble at Bragantino. Neither needed a word of explanation and both simply won.
- FK Banga Gargždu 0-3 FK Sūduva (Lithuania A Lyga) — Home AH +0.25 Banga, bridged @ 1.705 — lost
- Víkingur Reykjavík 2-2 ÍBV (Iceland Úrvalsdeild) — Home AH -1.00 Víkingur @ 1.520 — lost
- ÍA Akranes 2-0 Thór (Iceland) — Home AH -1.00 ÍA @ 1.720 — won
- Red Bull Bragantino 0-2 Corinthians (Brazil Série A) — Away AH +1.25 Corinthians @ 1.250 — won
Day close: -1.03u (2 won, 2 lost from 4).
Two selections were dropped before publication and I set out why at the time. Riga had no handicap market in existence at all, and the Gimnasia quarter had fourteen pounds a leg behind it. Both were right calls and neither is affected by how the day went.
Same process tomorrow.
