The one loss was the one line that cannot push. Rana needed to beat Follo by two goals on a minus one handicap and the game finished 3-3. A draw takes the full stake on that line, exactly as it did three times on Saturday. Four losses this week on minus one, three of them draws.

The two long prices carried the card. JyTy Turku and Al Nasar returned 2.80 units between them. The two short favourites, Real Madrid and America de Cali, returned 0.78 between them. Two bets of the five produced most of the profit, which is what the high odds lane is for.

JyTy Turku had no Asian handicap market anywhere, at any bookmaker, and no exchange either. A minus quarter splits into a level line and a minus half, and a minus half on the home side settles identically to a straight home win, so both halves were quotable even though the handicap itself was not. Betway's Draw No Bet at 1.91 and Unibet's home price at 3.00 built the bet at an effective 2.455. JyTy won 2-1 and both legs won.

I will note that pricing each leg at the best available book rather than taking both from one book was worth a quarter of a unit on that single bet. Same selection, same outcome, different execution.

Al Nasar was Round 1 of the Kuwaiti season. Every one of the five recent matches used to assess them finished on the twenty-sixth of June, sixty-one days before kick-off, because there was nothing newer in existence. Not stale data we had failed to update, simply the close season.

That is worth putting a number against. Across nine hundred and forty five thousand historical bets, selections where all five form matches carry over from the previous season return about one point less strike rate and one point less return than settled fixtures. Real, small, and not enough to justify skipping them. Al Nasar won 2-1 at 2.34 and was the second best result on the card.

Four days settled this week: thirty bets, 6.90 units, plus twenty three per cent. Saturday was the loser and the quarter lines were the reason the rest held up. Eight bets on split lines returned 4.41 units, and three of those eight were draws that would have been outright losses on a whole line.
